August 26, 2011 — October 9, 2011Local Color, an annual group show, is curated this year by the Gallery North Artist Advisory Board. This exhibition, of approximately 50 works by 19 artists, features outstanding paintings, works on paper and photography created on Long Island.
Advisory Board member Elizabeth Greaf explains: ”We are striving for diversity in media, styles and subject, seeking a good mix of excellent work.” Alongside their own paintings, the advisory board has reached out to a variety of Long Island artists, including: Eleanor Berger, Lawrence Chrapilwy, Jeff Foster, Margery Gosnell-Qua, Melissa Imossi, Rachelle Krieger, Anita Kusick, Bruce Lieberman, Jim Molloy, Susan Newmark, Pat Ralph, Margaret Weissbach and Christian White.
The Gallery North Artist Advisory Board was established in 2009 and is made up of professional artists who volunteer their expertise as part of Gallery North’s education and outreach support team. They work with Gallery Director Judith Levy and the Gallery North Board of Trustees to fulfill Gallery North’s mission “to present works of exceptional contemporary artists and artisans, especially those from Long Island and nearby regions and to stimulate interest in the arts through innovative exhibitions, community events and educational programs.”
Gallery North’s Artist Advisory Board members exhibiting work are: Kelynn Alder, Fred Badalamenti, Nancy Bueti-Randall, Elizabeth Greaf, Carol Marburger, and Doug Reina. Other advisory board members are: Kevin McEvoy, Terence Netter and Neil Scholl.
